You cannot please everyone

Long time ago lived a father and son. They were very poor with there only source of income coming from there donkey which they used to transfer goods of the villagers from one place to another in lieu of some flour or eatables. That was barely enough for them and there donkey and three of them were frequently going without meal.

Life was somehow going on for them in acute poverty when they heard the news that in a far off town there king was building a castle and was buying donkeys at very high price for transporting the building materials.

Father thought that they can sell there donkey there, work there for some days as a labourer, and with the money saved they can start a business. Atleast they can have two good meals everyday.

Thinking this the father and his son got ready for there long journey. They packed whatever small amount of food they had and started there journey. They walked sometime with there donkey when they reached a small village. There one man saw them and commented loudly to his wife, "what fools they are, They have a donkey still they are walking on foot". Father thought that what they are saying is true so he sat on the donkey while his son was walking.

They moved further when another man saw them and told to father,"What cruel father are you, your son is walking and you are sitting on the donkey". The father felt ashamed and got down and asked his son to sit on the donkey. They again started moving forward when a kid said to the son,"you are young and sitting on the donkey and making your old father walk. Shame on you". Thinking what to do now, both of them sat on the donkey and started again.

They came out of the village to a field when a shepherd saw them and said, "What kind of human are you putting so much load on the donkey. It must be tired now. Give some rest to the donkey also". The father and son confused now what to do carried the donkey on there shoulders and started walking towards the river. They were crossing the river when they slipped on the mud and dropped the donkey which was washed away in the river.

Moral of the story: How much you try you can not please everyone. No matter what you do, there will always be some people who do not like it.

My first

I went to see Dostana some days back. Its the story about two Guys who come to see an apartment for rent, they liked the apartment but came to know that since it was to be shared with a girl they can’t get it. So, they lied to be gays to the lanlord and the girl to get it. But later in the film they fell in love with the same girl, but she is in love with some other guy. So they do all funny and idiotic things to break there relationship. But finally the girl comes to know about there plans, when they plead for forgiveness, she asks the two guys to kiss each other in front of everybody for her to forgive them. They hesitate at first but finally kiss each other in the climax. At that time one thought came to my mind and I looked around and saw some people in shock, some people laughing with expression as “How can anybody do this”. Some just surprised. One guys has particularly no expression on his face which made me to think that may be he has done this many times beforeJ.

This reminded me of my good old college ragging days. We were made to do many things during our ragging period that many can't imagine of. Even when I think of it now I can’t believe that I did all those things in my college. But again I always want to go back to those days and live that life again. There was one particular incident during my ragging that I avoid discussing.

I joined my college and ragging started full time from the first day itself. Perhaps our senior believed too much in the saying of Kabir, ”kal karey so aaj kar , aaj karey so ab”. The seniors are so creative in finding new ways of ragging, Perhaps they exhaust all there ideas in the college days itself and leave nothing for the future. If they would have shown the same creativity in there job everybody must have been scientists by now. There were many things that we did as a part of Ragging or was done to us, but that I will discuss in some other blog. There was one incident which is worth mentioning separately.

It all happened late in the night one day when we just returned from a ragging session and were getting ready for sleep when a senior came to our room and shouted at us,”kya be tum log ko jyada neend aa raha hai kya, chal us room se baaki teen ko lekar mere room main aa jayo tum saare”. I thought another round of ragging now, but what will they do now? They have probably exhausted everything that can be done to a human being. Anyways thinking I went to the other room and told other three guy to come to the seniors room. One of them commented,”saalon ko bina ragging kiye neend nahin aata hai, khud to sota nahin aur apne ko bhi sone nahin deta, chal pata nahin aaj kya karega saala”.
I would like to mention here that before this incident I started kinda liking it, means ragging. It was sort of fun (only when done on somebody else :)). It was a good timepass, got slapped many times but it was ok. You only feel the first slap after that you think, just slap me and get over with it.

So we went to that seniors room took permission to enter and stood in front of him. There was one senior in that room who always asked me to sing in front of him and I always sang the same song. That day also he asked me to sing a song and I started singing the same song when he slapped me tight saying "saale main sunte sunte bore ho gaya lekin tu gaate gaate bore nahin hua, sui atak gaya hai kya tera, ja side main jakar chair ban ja"(This means you should sit on a chair only there will be no chair below you, very painful , if you ask me, if made to sit for more than 1 min).
The second guy came and was asked to name five condoms brand. The guy was able to say only two and was slapped three times and the senior shouted "saale condom ka brand bhi nahin pata family planning kya khak karega, ja tu bhi chair ban ja". The senior looked around for some answers and I thought shit, even I don’t know more than two and looked at the other side. He looked at me and said,”abe muuh kya ghuma raha hai nahin aata hai to, tujhe baad main dekhta huun”. I need to admin that these seniors become damn smart when they are doing ragging. Perhaps the power brings smartness. Everybody came one by one and got slapped depending on the 'sins' he committed at that time.

Rab ne bana di jodi hai......

Saw Rab ne bana di jodi in PVR today. Wanted to watch it for a long time but it always got postponed due to some or other reasons. And the high PVR ticket prices was not at all helpful in making me go sooner. With so high ticket prices its always better to find out how the movie is before going. Before you start giving dialogues such as I should go and decide for myself how the movie is listen to the valuable lesson I have learnt in past few years after wasting so much money watching the first day shows of movies such as Kisna, Tajmahal, james, Taal, Shiva, D, Darna jaroori hai, Darna mana hai, Hello, Heroes, Just married and many more. So I try to find out how a movie is before booking the tickets and always watch the movie after its first week of running thinking if the movie ran for one week atleast it will be ok.

Ecstasic Udaipur

"Kathikda Calling” showed ,when I pulled the mobile lazily from my pocket and I thought here starts again, The Hindi speaking training for him. Anyways I picked the phone, unlike him, and the first thing I hear is Karhtik da shouting, “Thambi, do you want to go to Udaipur?”.I thought why would I want to go to Udaipur at all of all the places that i can go, what sort of question is this and asked in one breath “What? How? When? Why?”.
Then he started explaining that Debu da’s team Oracle Direct was going to Udaipur that year for there yearly team outing.
If you don’t know about this or shocked to hear that how any team in any company can go so much far to Udaipur for a team outing, let me explain it before continuing further. I don't know for your company, but my company never went out of Bangalore for an outing. Debu da used to work in oracle(I am not saying that he used to work there. He never worked.Simply speaking he was an employee there. I will write a separate blog about the non working of oracle employees but that will be coming later) in a team called Oracle Direct. It was said by other Oracle employees in my our house that there team was the largest revenue generator in Oracle and to appreciate this fact every year they used to go to a good, exotic and finest location for there team outing. For example to places like Maldives, Thailand, Malaysia etc. This time they were going to Udaipur generally called as the city of lakes or the venice of east(Don't ask me why, I did not give this name). The best part was all the team members can take one other person with him. So a married person can take his family and others can take there friends/girl friends etc. So lets get back to the story again.
So the problem was that Debu da was in US at that time and so was not able to co-ordinate who will go with him. He first asked Karthik da, but he said no as he had some release at that time (People in our home say that Karthik da works only for one month in whole 12 months of an year and yes you got it right, it was his working month at the time of the trip). Manish bhaiya was not in India at that time so I became the most eligible. So Karthik da called me to find out whether I am interested to go to this trip to Udaipur. I had my doubts so i thought better to clear all of them first. Obviously the first question I asked was how much I will be spending for this trip. My second question was how are they planning to go there. Karthik da told me that we will fly from Bangalore to Mumbai and then to Udaipur and return the same way. I thought we even have an airport in Udaipur, cool. And then came the next bombshell when karthik da told me that we were going to stay in Taj lake Palace in Udaipur. In all my life I have never been inside any hotel with name starting with Taj and I always had the impression that any hotel name which starts with Taj must be good. I thought that this may be the time in which not only will I enter the hotel but stay there also. The trip was for 4 days and 3 nights. Since getting 4 days leave was never a problem in Tavant(It was problem only when you ask for 2 weeks leave and you will get a reply as if company will close if you are not there for 2 weeks) so I replied, yes I am coming.
